New Pass Ratio Information!!! March 4th, 2011
At the most recent CA Department of Insurance Curriculum Board meeting (February 17th 2011), a list of pass ratios were provided for each exam for 2010. The first time pass ratios are given as a combined percentage for live courses and online courses. For all the courses we offer, our pass ratios for 52hours.com specifically exceed the state average. For 2010 the pass ratios for the State and 52hours.com are below.
Course - 2010 State Average Pass Ratio : 2010 52hours.com Pass Ratio
Fire & Casualty – 44% : 64% (We exceeded the state average by 20%!!!)
Life-Only – 58% : 66% (52hours was 8% higher)
Life & Health – 62% : 71% (52hours was 9% higher)
Our pass ratios are consistently higher than the state average and we are very proud of that. We strive to maintain the most up to date, comprehensive study solution available. Ask for our pass ratios anytime, we will be happy to share them with you. Feel free to ask other providers as well, they can pull their personal pass ratios anytime. If they tell you otherwise, they probably don’t have high pass ratios like us, and you might want to select another provider.Written by Theme Admin in: Uncategorized | Tags: for california insurance pass ratios
New Life Settlement Regulations coming soon! April 14th, 2010
Posted on April 14th, 2010 as Life Settlements
On April 1, 2010 the California Department of Insurance provided all pre-license vendors the following notice regarding new Life Settlement regulations:
These regulations require the Department of Insurance to revise the Life-Only and Life Agent (combined Life-Only and Accident & Health) exams to include additional content regarding Life Settlement products. The Department of Insurance will also be creating and implementing new exam questions in both of these exams regarding Life Settlement products. These new questions will begin being included in licensing exams administered effective July 1, 2010.
Our content team is currently working on creating a new section for both our Life-Only and Life Agent courses which will directly address the new Life Settlement content. Our goal is to have this available within our courses by June 1, 2010 for those who will be testing July 1, 2010 and after.Written by Theme Admin in: Life Settlements | Tags:

What license do I need to sell what? November 16th, 2009
This is a very common question which those new to the industry have. Here is a basic explanation of the various licenses which we help individuals prepare to obtain:
This license will allow you to sell most all types of Life insurance products. Obviously, if you want to sell variable insurance products, which are those that invest in the stock market, additional licensing is required.
Accident & Health license
This license will allow you to sell most all types of Health insurance products. This license is very commonly combined with the Life-Only license above.
Note: Those candidates who would like to obtain both the Life-Only and Accident & Health licenses can take a combined Life Agent exam covering both lines, instead of two separate exams.
Fire & Casualty license
This license will allow you to sell personal and commercial lines insurance in addition to workers compensation. The products usually sold with this license include auto insurance, homeowners insurance and commercial property and liability insurance.
Personal Lines license
This license will allow you to sell personal lines insurance only which includes products such as dwelling, homeowners and auto insurance.
Auto Limited Lines license
This license will allow you to sell personal lines auto insurance only.
How to schedule your exam November 16th, 2009
We have created a walk through PowerPoint in pdf format which will give you step-by-step instructions on how to schedule your exam with the state. You can open this document by clicking the “How to schedule your exam” link on the right hand side in the center of our homepage under the heading “Schedule”. In the same area you can also click on the California state graphic to open the page on the DOI site where you can get started.
In addition, these items can be accessed by clicking the links directly below:
You can schedule your exam before you have completed your course. However, you will need to have your certificate of completion in order to obtain your license. We would recommend scheduling your exam within 2-3 days after completing your pre-license course. Good luck!Written by Theme Admin in: scheduling your exam | Tags: for scheduling your exam
Do I need a cram course? November 13th, 2009
This is a common question we get from our students. For some reason, in California it has become common place for some schools to offer a cram course which they recommend their students complete after they complete their required hours to ensure they pass their exam. This has never made sense to us. If you are required to complete up to 52 hours of study in your underlying course, you sure as heck better learn what you need to pass your exam in that course. Why would you need to subject yourself to any further torture. Unfortunately, we think we now the answer. Money!
Most schools make a large percentage of their revenue from these so called cram courses, or study halls where they supposedly teach you exactly what you need to know to pass your exam. Well, why not cover that in the underlying course? We don’t offer any cram courses, or study halls, and here is why: You will learn absolutely everything you need to know to pass your exam on your first attempt from the information we provide you within our courses.
Please don’t waste your time and money on these unnecessary programs which were dreamed up somewhere along the line to generate additional income. Study at our school and we include all the relevant material within the course.
Get started now and begin your journey to becoming a licensed agent! We look forward to assisting you in the process.Written by Theme Admin in: Why oh why? | Tags: for cram course, study hall
Who is the Insurance and Securities School of California? April 27th, 2009
First off, welcome to our blog! We are very excited to have this blog available as a part of our brand new site. In case this is your first visit to our site, we thought this post would be a good introduction to who we are and what our company philosophy is. Our company has been training individuals to pass insurance and securities licensing exams for almost 40 years now.
It was the early 70’s in Portland, Oregon when the state passed a law requiring those who wanted to obtain an insurance license to complete a live lecture pre-license training course. Oregon just happened to be one of the first states in the nation to pass a pre-license education requirement. At the time there were not really any schools available for future insurance agents to take the required courses. Thus, our company was formed.
Since the founding of our company we have operated live schools in Oregon, Washington, California, Hawaii, Arizona, Texas, Colorado and Minnesota and have sold our hard copy study products throughout the US since the late 90’s. We currently operate the largest live lecture insurance and securities schools in Arizona and Colorado.
So, how does this all tie together? Beginning in 2006 we converted all our content to also be available online in lecture flash video format. Around the same time we re-branded our company as TesTeachers and began to market our online video lecture courses throughout the nation. As the first school ever to offer a true replication of a live lecture class online, the use of our online training programs has grown tremendously.
Since we have been using the name Insurance and Securities School of California in California since 2004 we decided to keep the name and launched our online video lecture training in CA shortly after the pre-license requirement changed to allow online training in January of 2007. The Insurance and Securities School of California is a division of TesTeachers, LLC.
We are here to teach you what you need to know to pass your licensing exam, period! We are not here to train you how to sell insurance, or provide you education about the history of insurance. You want to pass the test, and we understand if you don’t we are not doing our job. In order to pass your exam, you must understand the concepts behind the questions. Memorizing questions and answers is not enough, in fact it is a sure fire way to fail your exam!
For this reason we have instructors available 24/7 by e-mail to help you further comprehend anything in case you get stuck. We are also the only provider in California to publish their pass ratios and include a free hard copy workbook with each enrollment. Why do we do these things? Because we are proud of our first time pass ratios and want you to pass your exam on your first attempt.
Each course also includes our video lecture sessions in downloadable and streaming format. The audio from these sessions is also provided in mp3 format. No other vendor anywhere offers these important study tools.
Well, that is the long and short of it. We look forward to a bright future as we continue to increase the effectiveness of our programs any way we can. We hope we have the opportunity to assist you in passing your exam on your first attempt. Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and if you are are student, get back to your studies, you have work to do!Written by Theme Admin in: ISSC Biography | Tags: for Insurance and Securities School of California
